LOCAL COUNSELING PRACTICE OFFERS LOW-COST SERVICES

If you don’t have insurance, good counseling will cost you $125 an hour, right? Yes, but a local group counseling practice is finding ways to lower costs and provide more affordable therapy options.

Lifescapes Counseling Associates has always accepted insurance and offered a sliding scale fee, but with so many people unemployed and uninsured, many consumers cannot afford even the lowest fee on the scale. “We’ve taken our sliding scale and lengthened it quite a bit because so many people are struggling right now” says Amy Benton Moulds, the Practice Director and owner. “Apex has been good to us, and we want to give back to the community”.

How will they do this? By giving interns and provisionally-licensed therapists the opportunity to train with their seasoned clinicians. Clients will pay as little as $30 per session to see an intern, and fees are discounted further for technology assisted counseling. “We are also offering a low-cost therapy group for unemployed adults that will focus on optimism and positive thinking”, adds Moulds.

The interns at Lifescapes Counseling Associates will have weekly and as-needed
individual and group supervision and in-depth case consultation to ensure the quality
